Laser Linewidth Compression in Cascading Brillouin Random Fiber Lasers

چکیده
Cascaded Brillouin random fiber lasers (BRFLs) with laser linewidth compression were theoretically and experimentally demonstrated. Thanks to photon-phonon coupled interplay as well randomly distributed feedback along silica fibers, the coherent time of cascading BRFL radiation is significantly prolonged whilst phase noise further suppressed, albeit a quantum-noise-induced narrowing limit. To validate it, ratio in BRFLs, defined pump its sequent order Stokes linewidth, was carried out exhibited dependence on which good agreement theoretical predictions. Furthermore, relative intensity noises BRFLs also investigated discussed.

Ultralow-noise yet tunable lasers are a revolutionary tool in precision spectroscopy, displacement measurements at the standard quantum limit, and the development of advanced optical atomic clocks. Further applications include lidar, coherent communications, frequency synthesis, and precision sensors of strain, motion, and temperature. While all applications benefit from lower frequency noise, ...

Laser linewidth is of central importance in spectroscopy, frequency metrology, and all applications of lasers requiring high coherence. It is also of fundamental importance, because the Schawlow-Townes laser linewidth limit is of quantum origin. Recently, a theory of stimulated Brillouin laser (SBL) linewidth has been reported. While the SBL linewidth formula exhibits power and optical Q factor...

We propose an original nonlinear beam cleaning fiber laser architecture to obtain high energy pulses with a good beam quality and a narrow linewidth. The output beam of a large core Er:Yb co-doped multimode fiber amplifier (M(2) approximately 6, 220 microJ) is converted into a near diffraction limited beam (M(2) = 1.6) through a stimulated Brillouin scattering injection seeded beam cleanup proc...
